Answers to Some Frequently Asked Questions

The StrikeMaster II Pro is comprised of two separate pieces of customized steel that are uniquely designed to mate almost seemlessly together. When combined and installed they form essentially a single cohesive unit that is 1/8" thick.

The reason that StrikeMaster II Pro does not go the “full height” of the door frame is because the door entry lock is not at the center of the door. The Design of StrikeMaster II Pro allows someone to use it on a “right” or “left” hand swing door. This removes any doubt as to what swing the door is and also allows our retail stores to stock only one SKU. We try to invent products where "one size fits all".

When I invented StrikeMaster II Pro I wanted a product that was designed in a way that allows “NO DOOR TRIM REMOVAL” The Patent Pending 2-piece-design facilitates this by affording a SHORT, SHARP, 1/4” 90% BEND. This bend does not interfere with the nails that hold the door trim on.

We use 2-1/2” SPECIAL screws that are specially designed to bond “METAL to WOOD”. The length of screw is not as important as the shear strength of screw. The screws don’t pull out during an attack, they “shear off”. Ours are specially designed for "shear strength" at the shortest length possible to be 100% effective. Also, screws in excess of 2-1/2" in length may interfere with door systems incorporating side-lights.

When the StrikeMaster II Pro is attached to the frame, the 2 ½” screws will pull the frame away from the door and will increase the gap space. For a visual example please go to our ANATOMY OF A DOOR page. There you will see that there is approx. a 1/2” gap that will allow the frame to move. When you install the 2 ½” screws into the hinges, this process will also take place. There are also other steps and suggestions on the installation page. When a door frame is installed, the installer sometimes use screws. If that is your case, these screws MUST be removed first, or the frame will not move to allow the gap to expand.

The most common issue that prevents the StrikeMaster II Pro from fitting properly, is the caulk that seals the door casing trim to the door casing has not been removed. Please see the installation and the ANATOMY OF A DOOR page for examples. When everything has been tried as a last resort, then a single strip of StrikeMaster II Pro can be used. We have extensively tested the outer piece of Strike Master II Pro, and found it to be strong enough to prevent a simple kick-in.

“YES” with most doors of this type construction (however, care should be taken as you "may" have a non-standard door system that is unique to your installation). In fact, we actually demonstrate installing a StrikeMaster II Pro on just this type of door system in our installation video on this web site. Also, see photo in our Gallery Section.

A photo of a 1” hole saw is posted in our Gallery Section. The hole saw is used in the event that the spacing between the entry lock and the dead bolt is different. The hole saw can also be used if you have a door alarm sensor where the Strike Master II Pro may cover it when installed. The instruction sheet details what to do if you encounter one of these unusual conditions.

The industry standard for spacing between entry and dead bolt is 5-1/2" to 6-0". With a series of pre-stamped knock-outs you run the risk of the spacing of dead-bolt landing in between the knock-outs. The hole saw solution is the most effective and cosmetically appealing solution.

The unique PATENTED design of StrikeMaster II Pro allows a door reinforcement product to stay within the boundaries of the residential home cosmetic appeal, but still afford you maximum home safety.
